The Right To Dance teams with Gorillas and ELLC to support children living in conflict
On-demand delivery service, Gorillas, and The East London Liquor Company (ELLC) have teamed up to create a new canned cocktail in aid of War Child UK.
The Rum and Cherry Drop cocktail will support children living in conflict, via War Child’s music-based community funding movement, The Right To Dance.
James Law, Brand Director at ELLC, says: “The first time I had the concept of The Right to Dance explained to me, I was genuinely moved.”
“As a child of the 90s I was lucky enough to go to some of the biggest free festivals during those rave days and I immediately felt an affinity with what War Child were trying to do.”
“When we started chatting, one of the first things to come up was the idea of producing a great canned cocktail together. The audience felt right for such a product, so we built it into our plan for the year.”
Law adds: “I had been playing around with cherry flavours for a couple of years, but we had struggled to find the right drink to match it with. I love that big, juicy American flavour you get from it, especially from black cherry.”
“I started by matching it with our East London wheat vodka and it was great, but when I tried it with our rum was when it all came together. The rum is from Jamaica and has that brilliant vegetal funk you get from old wooden pot stills.”
“When you add the cherry to that you get this amazing cherry cola thing going on - add in some caffeine to make it dance floor friendly, and the name ‘Rum and Cherry Drop’ just wrote itself.”
Danny Barry, Brand Lead at Gorillas, says: “We’re extremely proud to join forces with The Right to Dance and ELLC, for the launch of the new special-edition ‘Rum and Cherry Drop’ cocktail. We know our customers will love trying the new flavour as ELLC are a long standing partner of Gorillas in the UK. “
“As the exclusive retailer for TRTD’s Rum and Cherry Drop cocktail, our customers can try the new flavour by ordering it from the Gorillas app, with every purchase supporting the cause – what’s more, it’ll be delivered in minutes.”
“By partnering with TRTD and ELLC, we hope to raise awareness and as many funds as possible so that War Child can continue providing a vital service for children living in poverty.”
