Restaurant industry veteran Paul Carbone joins Panera Brands as Chief Financial Officer

Panera Brands, which includes the fast casual and hospitality brand Panera Bread as well as Caribou Coffee and Einstein Bros., has announced the appointment of Paul Carbone as Chief Financial Officer.

“I am excited for Paul to join the team as we continue to focus on long-term value creation for Panera Brands,” says José Alberto Dueñas, CEO at Panera Brands and Panera Bread.

“Paul’s depth of knowledge and history of success across multiple industries, particularly in the restaurant space, and his dynamic leadership qualities make him an ideal partner as we take Panera Brands to the next level.”

Carbone brings with him significant financial executive experience in the restaurant, consumer goods and retail industries, including spending nine years at Dunkin’ Brands where he was CFO from 2012-2017.

He also has been the CFO at YETI Holdings, and SharkNinja.

“I could not be more thrilled to join this dynamic and innovative company at such an energising and exciting time for the business,” he comments.

“I look forward to joining an already outstanding leadership team and accelerating the momentum of Panera Brands to deliver long-term growth and success.”

An industry first

Panera Bread is boosting its MyPanera programme with palm recognition service Amazon One’s newly launched loyalty linking capability.

Panera is the first restaurant chain to offer this.

Those who choose to enrol in Amazon One and link their MyPanera account hover their palm over the Amazon One device, and a Panera associate will be able to welcome them by name. Guests can choose to use the service for loyalty linking, payment, or both.

This is launching at two Panera bakery-cafes in the St. Louis area (Town and Country and Bridgeton locations), and will become available at additional locations in the coming months.
