New Kansas City International Airport terminal features Amazon Just Walk Out and Amazon One tech

Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology and Amazon One solutions have touched down at Kansas City International Airport in the US.

Two &GO stores deploying these offerings can be found in the new Terminal B and baggage claim area.

The new terminal officially opened for business yesterday. It replaces a 50 year old facility and cost $1.5 billion.

In a LinkedIn post, Armughan Javaid, Head of Travel vertical Amazon Just Walk Out technology and Amazon One, said: “Excited to share that Just Walk Out technology and Amazon One have arrived in the brand new Terminal at Kansas City International Airport.”

“OHM Concession Group has launched two &Go stores, where on the go travellers can shop for travel essentials without slowing down in checkout lines. Was honoured to participate in the ribbon cutting with our AWS Applications team, partners and Kansas City officials.”

Austin FC

Major League Soccer’s Austin FC has partnered with Amazon to equip the ATX Market at Q2 Stadium with Just Walk Out technology.

This makes it the first soccer specific stadium in the world to introduce the checkout-free solution.

Those visiting the aforementioned store can use their credit card at the ATX Market entry gates to begin their experience.

Once inside, anything a guest selects from the shelf is automatically added to their virtual cart, and anything placed back on the shelf comes out of said cart.

When fans are done, they will be able to leave the store without waiting in line to check-out. Upon exit, the credit card used at entry will be charged for the items they left the store with.

The ATX Market is located near The Zebra Gate at Q2 Stadium’s northwest corner.

“Austin is one of the world’s most important technology hubs and Austin has some of the highest rates of technology adoption across a range of industries, and bringing innovations like Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology to Q2 Stadium is a great way to ensure the venue continues to be a representation of the community it calls home,” says Austin FC President Andy Loughnane.

“We’re excited to see this technology in action making the shopping experience faster and easier for Q2 Stadium guests.”

“As Austin FC looks to continuously provide fans with game-changing experiences, we’re proud to bring our checkout-free shopping to soccer fans in a tech-forward city like Austin,” says Dilip Kumar, Vice President of AWS Applications.

“With Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology, fans can grab food and snacks and get back to the match action faster than ever.”
