Richard Noon wraps final Footasylum go live and store roll-out as he prepares for move to Adyen

Richard Noon is departing Footasylum, where he served as Product Manager - Omnichannel, to join the Implementation Engineer team at payments giant Adyen.

Noon told RTIH: “After four years of implemeting and managing the Adyen payment solution at Footasylum, i’m moving to the company to work on implementations and GTM for its unified commerce platform offering - working in new verticals and bring my experiences to a new client base.”

In a LinkedIn post, in which he discussed a recent deployment of Zipline’s retail operations platform, he said: “My final go live and store roll-out at Footasylum before I start a new role at Adyen in September needed to be a special one.”

He added: “From a conversation at Retail Technology Show, a sector review was undertaken and business case put together and here we are, live in our stores just a couple of months later. Get yourself a Head of Retail who believes in the power of community, communication, delegation and strong tech to support store associates in their ability to do more, better! Shannon Osman understood the assignment and has brought the team along on the journey to start unlocking the potential of this great platform.”

Noon concluded: “Well done to the Zipline implementation team and our own awesome Retail Ops team as a whole for running with it and getting it into the hands of our store associates so quickly, with minimal impact to BAU. Whilst the journey continues to embed this within our store community, I sense some great outcomes for this partnership - it should sit alongside our NewStore PoS quite nicely.”

Joe & The Juice

Urban juice bar and coffee concept Joe & The Juice recently announced a partnership with Adyen focused on the FinTech firm’s proprietary multimedia countertop SFO1 payment terminal.

It has been working with Adyen for over a decade. As it accelerates its expansion in the US market, particularly in key cities like New York, it is turning to the company’s technology to improve the in-store experience.

The deployment of SFO1 terminals enables it to tap real-time data and feedback. It is using them not just to simplify checkout, but to gather insights that help inform store experiences, shape its marketing approach, and ultimately, build long-term customer loyalty in a highly competitive F&B landscape.

“Adyen has been a trusted partner and leveraging their financial technology to expand internationally was an easy decision,” said Nicolai Schnack, CTO at Joe & The Juice. "The new SFO1 terminal allows us to adapt to various market environments, enhancing our in-store experience to match the retail environment. It enables us to meet customers where they are, fostering a global connection to the brand."

The terminal enables pre-ordering through the brand’s app, providing personalised loyalty incentives, and incorporating marketing content directly at checkout.

2025 RTIH INNOVATION AWARDS

Payments will be a key focus area at the 2025 RTIH Innovation Awards.

The awards. which are now open for entries, celebrate global tech innovation in a fast moving omnichannel world.

Our 2024 hall of fame entrants were revealed during an event which took place at RIBA’s 66 Portland Place HQ in Central London on 21st November, and consisted of a drinks reception, three course meal, and awards ceremony presided over by comedian Lucy Porter.

In his welcome speech, Scott Thompson, Founder and Editor, RTIH, said: “The event is now into its sixth year and what a journey it has been. The awards started life as an online only affair during the Covid outbreak, before launching as a small scale in real life event and growing year on year to the point where we’re now selling out this fine, historic venue.”

He added: “Congratulations to all of our finalists. Many submissions did not make it through to the final stage, and getting to this point is no mean feat. Checkout-free stores, automated supply chains, immersive experiences, on-demand delivery, next generation loyalty offerings, inclusive retail, green technology. We’ve got all the cool stuff covered this evening.”

“But just importantly we’ve got lots of great examples of companies taking innovative tech and making it usable in everyday operations - resulting in more efficiency and profitability in all areas.”

Congratulations to our 2024 winners, and a big thank you to our sponsors, judging panel, the legend that is Lucy Porter, and all those who attended November's gathering.
