East of England Co-op is hiring as retailer modernises technology and transforms the way it works

East of England Co-op is expanding its Data & Insights team with two new roles.

In a LinkedIn post, Rob Smith, Technology Officer at East of England Co-op, said: "Big things are happening with data at the East of England Co-op. I’m genuinely excited to share some news that’s really close to my heart. We’re on a journey to modernise our technology and transform the way we work."

He added: "For me, one of the most rewarding parts of that journey is how we use data, because it has the power to make everyday life easier for our colleagues in store, improve decision-making across the business, and ultimately help us serve our members and communities even better. That’s why I’m so pleased that we’re expanding our Data & Insights team with two brand new roles."

The roles are as follows: Business Intelligence Developer and Data Engineering Analyst.

Smith commented: "We’re looking for people who are not only technically skilled, but also passionate about making a real impact. These roles are all about: Building dashboards and reports that bring data to life in meaningful ways; Designing and maintaining data pipelines that keep information flowing reliably; Turning raw data into actionable insights that colleagues can use every day; Thriving in a collaborative, purpose driven environment where tech is about people first."

"For me, this isn’t just about data or technology. It’s about people - giving colleagues the tools and insights they need to thrive, and helping us all make decisions that strengthen the Co-op and the communities we’re proud to be part of. If this sounds like you - or like someone you know - I’d love for you to check out the roles above, or share this post with your network. Together, we can make data a true driver of positive change."

2025 RTIH INNOVATION AWARDS

Data and insights will be a key focus area at the 2025 RTIH Innovation Awards.

The awards. which are now closed for entries with our finalists and shortlists being announced last week, celebrate global tech innovation in a fast moving omnichannel world.

Our 2024 hall of fame entrants were revealed during an event which took place at RIBA’s 66 Portland Place HQ in Central London on 21st November, and consisted of a drinks reception, three course meal, and awards ceremony presided over by comedian Lucy Porter

In his welcome speech, Scott Thompson, Founder and Editor, RTIH, said: “The event is now into its sixth year and what a journey it has been. The awards started life as an online only affair during the Covid outbreak, before launching as a small scale in real life event and growing year on year to the point where we’re now selling out this fine, historic venue.”

He added: “Congratulations to all of our finalists. Many submissions did not make it through to the final stage, and getting to this point is no mean feat. Checkout-free stores, automated supply chains, immersive experiences, on-demand delivery, next generation loyalty offerings, inclusive retail, green technology. We’ve got all the cool stuff covered this evening.”

“But just importantly we’ve got lots of great examples of companies taking innovative tech and making it usable in everyday operations - resulting in more efficiency and profitability in all areas.”

Congratulations to our 2024 winners, and a big thank you to our sponsors, judging panel, the legend that is Lucy Porter, and all those who attended November's gathering.
