Marks and Spencer veteran Alex Avisse-Williams takes on Digital Director for Home & Clothing role at Tesco

Tesco has appointed Alex Avisse-Williams as Digital Director for Home & Clothing. Avisse-Williams left M&S earlier this year, following an almost nine year stint at the retailer, where he held such roles as Head of Online Experience & Performance Marketing.

In a LinkedIn post, he said: “One of my stepson's first full sentences was "thank you for shopping at Tesco" (seriously), so he's also over the moon. The team there has done a fantastic job of creating excitement around the F&F brand, and relaunching F&F online direct to customers over the past 18 months. It's a great time to be joining and I can't wait to build on the momentum.”

He added: “I've been making lots of orders in recent weeks for the whole family, and every single one has arrived on time, so well done fulfilment operation. If you have your own good/bad experiences to share, please let me know!”

AIUTA

Tesco is introducing new virtual try-on technology for the first time, as part of a trial at its Sandhurst Extra store. Powered by AIUTA tech, the experience lets customers virtually try on around 1,500 items of F&F clothing across womenswear and menswear by taking a photo or uploading a photo of themselves onto a digital try-on screen in the clothing department, or selecting a digital model to view clothes in different sizes.

The trial is designed to understand how Tesco can help customers browsing in-store to discover new styles and feel more confident before they buy.

The virtual try-on screen forms part of a wider F&F refresh at Sandhurst Extra, which includes new changing rooms and a dedicated service hub for easier checking out and returns. Customers will also see a larger F&F range in-store and a refreshed look and feel with new signage, updated lighting and a focus on showcasing the F&F range across womenswear, menswear and childrenswear.
