Retail media specialist Marcus Lord exits sports retailer Stadium and heads over to Nordiska Kompaniet

Nordiska Kompaniet, a Swedish luxury department store retailer, has appointed Marcus Lord as Head of Retail Media.

He joins from Stadium where he spent the past two years and held the same role.

In a LinkedIn post, Lord said: “Always up for a great challenge! Sometimes a new door opens that is hard not to enter. I’m glad to announce that as of 20th April, I will join the Nordiska Kompaniet team, owned by Hufvudstaden. I will apply my learnings from marketing, retail, leadership, product and sales to lead a new business area as Head of Retail Media.”

He added: “Just over 1,5 years with Stadium establishing the retail media business. An amazing ride in so many different ways. Two things I take with me from my time with Stadium: The power of empowerment and supportive leadership; The curiosity. The willingness to test, support each other across departments and take fast decisions have been a game changer. 10/10.”

“Two things I look forward to starting at NK. Getting to know my new colleagues, especially the retail media team (we are expanding and in need of a new KAM Retail Media person placed in Sthlm) and all the great partners in the department stores; Setting up and scale a strong retail media product offering with deliverance of data insights. At Stadium, I have gotten to know yet another sporty family of great colleagues that I will miss very much. I will always follow and support you.”

Exotec

Stadium is investing in a new automated logistics centre in Norrköping, Sweden. The facility will be equipped with Exotec’s Skypod system and will be the company's first wholly owned distribution hub.

Skypod will be at the heart of the new warehouse, hosting over 240 autonomous robots that move in three dimensions, horizontally and vertically up to a height of 12 metres. With more than 170,000 storage locations, Stadium’s logistics centre will have the capacity to handle both large order peaks and long-term company growth.

Daniel Johansson, Supply Chain Director at Stadium, says: “We needed a solution that gives us full control over our store logistics and is flexible enough to grow with us. With Exotec's Skypod system, we can streamline deliveries to our stores and scale up capacity as the business grows.”

Construction of the centre is due to start in 2026 and represents a multi-million-pound investment for the sports retailer. The system is planned to be fully operational in the first quarter of 2028. Stadium is Exotec's first Swedish customer.

2026 RTIH Innovation Awards

Retail media will be a key focus area at the 2026 RTIH Innovation Awards.

The awards are now open for entries and celebrate global retail technology innovation in a fast moving omnichannel world.

Our winners will be revealed at the 2026 RTIH Innovation Awards Ceremony, taking place at The HAC in Central London on Wednesday, 4th November.

Check out our 2025 winners here.

Our 2025 hall of fame entrants were revealed during a sold out event which took place at The HAC on 16th October and consisted of a drinks reception, three course meal, and awards ceremony presided over by award winning comedian, actress and writer Tiff Stevenson.

In his welcome speech, Scott Thompson, Founder and Editor, RTIH, said: “This is the awards’ fifth year as a physical event. We started off with just 30 people at the South Place Hotel not far from here, then moved to London Bridge Hotel, then The Barbican, and last year RIBA’s HQ in the West End.”

“But I’m conscious of the fact that, to quote the legend that is Taylor Swift, You’re only as hot as your last hit, baby. So, this year we’ve moved to our biggest venue yet, and also pulled in our largest number of entries to date and broken attendance records.”

He added: “This year’s submissions have without doubt been our best yet. To quote one of the judges: The examples of innovative developments across both traditional and digital retail spaces were truly remarkable.”

Congratulations to our winners, and a big thank you to our sponsors, judging panel, the legend that is Tiff Stevenson, and all those who attended our 2025 gathering.
