Chief Information Security Officer Shawn Harris decides to move on from Chipotle Mexican Grill

Shawn Harris has announced his decision to depart Chipotle Mexican Grill where he spent the past four years, most recently serving as Deputy Chief Information Security Officer.

In a LinkedIn post, in which he did not reveal his next move, he said: “After four incredible years, I’ve made the decision to leave Chipotle Mexican Grill. This chapter has meant so much to me as we embarked on an ambitious transformation. I’m incredibly proud of what we built: a world class team, stronger security capabilities across the enterprise, meaningful improvements in our security maturity, and a culture focused on enabling the business while protecting it.”

He added: “While I’m proud of the programmes and technologies we delivered, I’m even more proud of the people. Watching talented leaders grow, mentoring the next generation of cybersecurity professionals, and building a team that genuinely enjoys solving hard problems together has been the most rewarding part of the journey. I’m especially grateful to Dave Estlick (CISO) for the trust he placed in me and for the opportunities he provided. He gave me the chance to lead at a scale that fundamentally changed my career, and I’ll always appreciate the confidence he showed in me.”

Harris concluded: “I’d also like to thank my teammates, peers, business partners, and the executive leadership across Chipotle. None of our accomplishments were the result of one person - they came from extraordinary collaboration, resilience, and a shared commitment to making the company stronger every day. As I close this chapter, I’m filled with gratitude for everything I’ve learned and the friendships I’ve made. Chipotle will always hold a special place in my career, and I’m excited for the next stage. Thank you, Chipotle.”

2026 RTIH Innovation Awards

Security capabilities will be a key focus area at the 2026 RTIH Innovation Awards.

The awards are now open for entries and celebrate global retail technology innovation in a fast moving omnichannel world.

Our winners will be revealed at the 2026 RTIH Innovation Awards Ceremony, taking place at The HAC in Central London on Wednesday, 4th November.

Check out our 2025 winners here.

Our 2025 hall of fame entrants were revealed during a sold out event which took place at The HAC on 16th October and consisted of a drinks reception, three course meal, and awards ceremony presided over by award winning comedian, actress and writer Tiff Stevenson.

In his welcome speech, Scott Thompson, Founder and Editor, RTIH, said: “This is the awards’ fifth year as a physical event. We started off with just 30 people at the South Place Hotel not far from here, then moved to London Bridge Hotel, then The Barbican, and last year RIBA’s HQ in the West End.”

“But I’m conscious of the fact that, to quote the legend that is Taylor Swift, You’re only as hot as your last hit, baby. So, this year we’ve moved to our biggest venue yet, and also pulled in our largest number of entries to date and broken attendance records.”

He added: “This year’s submissions have without doubt been our best yet. To quote one of the judges: The examples of innovative developments across both traditional and digital retail spaces were truly remarkable.”

Congratulations to our winners, and a big thank you to our sponsors, judging panel, the legend that is Tiff Stevenson, and all those who attended our 2025 gathering.
