And the European retailer is…Ocado Group unveils nemlig as the partner announced back in July

Ocado Group reports that nemlig is the European national retailer announced as its latest partner on 21st July. The tie up will support the development and growth of nemlig.com in Denmark. Under the agreement, the pair will build a customer fulfilment centre (CFC) near Copenhagen.

The site will be equipped with the latest Ocado technology, including the 600s bot, On-grid robotic pick, and a fully automated freezer. nemlig will continue to operate its existing webshop and manage last mile delivery to its customers. The CFC will be fully integrated into these existing operations, with completed orders handed on to its third-party delivery partners.

Nemlig expects to quickly transfer its existing order volumes into the CFC in 2028.

Tim Steiner, Founder and CEO at Ocado Group, says: “I'm delighted to confirm nemlig as our latest grocery partner, bringing another leading pureplay online retailer onto the Ocado Smart Platform. Nemlig and Ocado Retail share a deep understanding of how to disrupt traditional retail through an online only model, and I'm pleased they've chosen our technology to support their profitable growth in Denmark.”

“This deal shows our platform's flexibility in practice and demonstrates how far the efficiency of our technology has come. Nemlig competes hard on price, and this partnership demonstrates our platform’s ability to deliver profitable online economics for even the most price competitive retailers. Pureplay online retailers are taking a growing share of the market globally, and partnerships like this continue to show why Ocado’s technology is a game-changer in the online channel.”

Stefan Plenge, Founder and CEO at nemlig says: “We are very excited to partner with Ocado and to bring their world leading automation technology into our operations. This partnership marks an important next step for nemlig and will significantly strengthen the efficiency and scalability of our business. It supports our ambition to solidify nemlig’s new position as one of Denmark’s cheapest grocery retailers, while continuing to deliver the convenience and service our customers expect.

2026 RTIH Innovation Awards

Supply chain automation will be a key focus area at the 2026 RTIH Innovation Awards.

The awards are now open for entries and celebrate global retail technology innovation in a fast moving omnichannel world.

Our winners will be revealed at the 2026 RTIH Innovation Awards Ceremony, taking place at The HAC in Central London on Wednesday, 4th November.

Check out our 2025 winners here.

Our 2025 hall of fame entrants were revealed during a sold out event which took place at The HAC on 16th October and consisted of a drinks reception, three course meal, and awards ceremony presided over by award winning comedian, actress and writer Tiff Stevenson.

In his welcome speech, Scott Thompson, Founder and Editor, RTIH, said: “This is the awards’ fifth year as a physical event. We started off with just 30 people at the South Place Hotel not far from here, then moved to London Bridge Hotel, then The Barbican, and last year RIBA’s HQ in the West End.”

“But I’m conscious of the fact that, to quote the legend that is Taylor Swift, You’re only as hot as your last hit, baby. So, this year we’ve moved to our biggest venue yet, and also pulled in our largest number of entries to date and broken attendance records.”

He added: “This year’s submissions have without doubt been our best yet. To quote one of the judges: The examples of innovative developments across both traditional and digital retail spaces were truly remarkable.”

Congratulations to our winners, and a big thank you to our sponsors, judging panel, the legend that is Tiff Stevenson, and all those who attended our 2025 gathering.
