British green technology specialist Polytag appoints Suzie Dekker as Business Development Manager
Polytag, a UK-based data capture and marketing platform for powering the circular economy, has appointed Suzie Dekker as Business Development Manager.
She joins from EcoVadis, an ESG ratings platform, where she worked with organisations using data and digital platforms to assess, manage and improve their sustainability performance. During her time there, she helped grow the company's presence across the Benelux region, developing customer relationships and supporting organisations in making greater use of its platform and data.
Polytag's technology connects the physical pack with a digital platform, giving brands greater visibility into how, when and where consumers interact with their packaging. At the same time, QR codes create a direct communication channel between brands and consumers at the point of interaction. That channel can be used for a range of applications, from recycling guidance and product information to loyalty campaigns, promotions and behaviour change initiatives.
Dekker says: "What attracted me to Polytag is the opportunity to work with a technology that creates a direct connection between brands, their packaging and their consumers. We're seeing a shift in how businesses think about data - from something they collect to something they can actively use to understand customers and improve their marketing. I'm excited to help brands explore what connected packaging can do for them."
Alice Rackley, CEO, Polytag, adds: "We're at an exciting stage of Polytag's growth. We're seeing more brands recognise the potential of connected packaging and, as that market develops, we're building the capabilities to support them at scale. Suzie brings a wealth of experience in data led platforms and customer engagement, which will be invaluable as we help brands turn packaging from a static product touchpoint into a source of data, insight and consumer engagement."
2026 RTIH Innovation Awards
Green retail will be a key focus area at the 2026 RTIH Innovation Awards.
The awards are now open for entries and celebrate global retail technology innovation in a fast moving omnichannel world.
Our winners will be revealed at the 2026 RTIH Innovation Awards Ceremony, taking place at The HAC in Central London on Wednesday, 4th November.
Check out our 2025 winners here.
Our 2025 hall of fame entrants were revealed during a sold out event which took place at The HAC on 16th October and consisted of a drinks reception, three course meal, and awards ceremony presided over by award winning comedian, actress and writer Tiff Stevenson.
In his welcome speech, Scott Thompson, Founder and Editor, RTIH, said: “This is the awards’ fifth year as a physical event. We started off with just 30 people at the South Place Hotel not far from here, then moved to London Bridge Hotel, then The Barbican, and last year RIBA’s HQ in the West End.”
“But I’m conscious of the fact that, to quote the legend that is Taylor Swift, You’re only as hot as your last hit, baby. So, this year we’ve moved to our biggest venue yet, and also pulled in our largest number of entries to date and broken attendance records.”
He added: “This year’s submissions have without doubt been our best yet. To quote one of the judges: The examples of innovative developments across both traditional and digital retail spaces were truly remarkable.”
Congratulations to our winners, and a big thank you to our sponsors, judging panel, the legend that is Tiff Stevenson, and all those who attended our 2025 gathering.
