Fighting fit: Northern Gym Equipment hails strong first year on Decathlon UK online marketplace

Northern Gym Equipment (NGE) says it has become one of the top selling home fitness equipment partner brands on Decathlon’s UK website, one year on from going live. The British company first launched on Decathlon’s online marketplace in July 2025 with a select range of products.

Since then, its presence has expanded to more than 300 products, while NGE’s monthly revenue generated through Decathlon has risen by over 350% over the past year, marking a 4.5-fold increase. NGE’s Decathlon range includes both bundles and individual equipment pieces aimed at beginner, intermediate and advanced users. It covers strength training, functional fitness, CrossFit, Hyrox and Pilates.

Following its online move, a select range of NGE products has recently launched in Decathlon stores as part of the retailer’s marketplace showroom initiative.

Mahavir Singh Nerwan, Co-founder and Director at Northern Gym Equipment, comments: “When we first launched with Decathlon, we started with a relatively limited range to understand how the partnership, systems and customer journey worked. To become one of the top partner home gym equipment brands on the platform - which we achieved within just six months of launching - was a huge milestone for us, but what’s even more encouraging is the growth that’s continued month after month."

“A 4.5x increase shows us not only how much demand there is for quality home gym equipment, and how well our range suits Decathlon’s customer base, but that we’re able to scale - and scale fast. It’s a very strong, mutually beneficial partnership. Decathlon is a great platform to convey our brand story and message, and also help educate customers on the right products they should be buying. We look forward to developing our relationship even further over the next 12 months.”

Jamil Popat, Key Account Manager Leader at Decathlon, says: “Northern Gym Equipment has proved to be an exceptionally strong partner for us over the past year, with its core products - including hex dumbbells, cast iron kettlebells, bumper plates, benches and storage racks - all proving strong sellers, with exclusive bundles and package sets also performing particularly well."

“The breadth of its offering - coupled with a focus on quality design that really complements the aesthetics of people’s homes - makes it a great fit for our online marketplace, and now, our Marketplace Showroom. The Northern team has also worked closely with us to develop promotions, marketing activity and new ways to showcase the range, forming a partnership that goes beyond just listing products on our platform.”

2026 RTIH Innovation Awards

Online retail will be a key focus area at the 2026 RTIH Innovation Awards.

The awards are now open for entries and celebrate global retail technology innovation in a fast moving omnichannel world.

Our winners will be revealed at the 2026 RTIH Innovation Awards Ceremony, taking place at The HAC in Central London on Wednesday, 4th November.

Check out our 2025 winners here.

Our 2025 hall of fame entrants were revealed during a sold out event which took place at The HAC on 16th October and consisted of a drinks reception, three course meal, and awards ceremony presided over by award winning comedian, actress and writer Tiff Stevenson.

In his welcome speech, Scott Thompson, Founder and Editor, RTIH, said: “This is the awards’ fifth year as a physical event. We started off with just 30 people at the South Place Hotel not far from here, then moved to London Bridge Hotel, then The Barbican, and last year RIBA’s HQ in the West End.”

“But I’m conscious of the fact that, to quote the legend that is Taylor Swift, You’re only as hot as your last hit, baby. So, this year we’ve moved to our biggest venue yet, and also pulled in our largest number of entries to date and broken attendance records.”

He added: “This year’s submissions have without doubt been our best yet. To quote one of the judges: The examples of innovative developments across both traditional and digital retail spaces were truly remarkable.”

Congratulations to our winners, and a big thank you to our sponsors, judging panel, the legend that is Tiff Stevenson, and all those who attended our 2025 gathering.
