Ubamarket wins major digital commerce award
Retail tech startup Ubamarket fought off the likes of Ocado and Unilever to land the IGD Award for Digital Commerce on Tuesday night. This recognises pioneering digital innovation that is designed to make shopping easier and more engaging for consumers.
Ubamarket is a white-label shopping app, currently available on iOS and Android. In its first phase of development, customers enter their shopping list and it will be rearranged into the order the items are displayed in the store. They scan items as they shop, receive real-time personalised offers, plus automatic loyalty and check-out without having to re-scan items or queue.
Will Broome, CEO, and Founder, Ubamarket, says: "This is a very proud moment for our team; to receive recognition from an industry benchmark such as IGD is a brilliant acknowledgment for the hard work the team and I have invested thus far. We're looking forward to pursuing truly revolutionary and unique developments into the new year, staying true to our mission of transforming the way we shop, store by store".
John Maltman, CEO at E Fundamentals, says: “Ubamarket.com is a great example of how technology can be used to make shopping easier. Shoppers’ expectations are constantly increasing, and the team has created an app that makes it easier for shoppers to find and pay for products in-store.”
“We particularly liked that Ubamarket gives independent retailers a cost-effective route to providing scan and go services – this helps them remain competitive and potentially take the lead in this emerging battleground. In addition, we were impressed by the team’s ability to collaborate effectively with retailers to develop their thinking and services.”
