IWD: 10 women leading the way in the retail tech world

The theme of this year's International Women's Day (IWD) is #PressforProgress.

To celebrate IWD 2018, here are 10 women who are pressing for progress and making positive impacts on the retail and retail technology sectors.

Elke Bretz, UX Designer, PCA Predict

Elke works for e-commerce data outfit PCA Predict on everything relating to the customer journey, user experience design, data collection and usability. Prior to that, she founded her own design and consultancy business, Simplicity, specialising in generating end-to-end customer experiences across interfaces for web and mobile applications.

Camille Rumani, Co-Founder and COO, Eatwith

Camille heads up Europe’s largest social dining and food experience platform Eatwith (formerly VizEat). The idea for Eatwith was born out of a conversation between Camille and her now business partner, Jean-Michel Petit, about the best travel experiences they’d recently had whilst abroad. She  is determined to change the way people travel, one food experience at a time and was recently named as one of the Forbes 30 under 30 (Europe) in the 'Retail' category.

Maz Cohen, Founder and CEO, Wisher

Jess Jeetly, Founder and CEO, Jeetly

Jeetly is pitched as the first clothing brand for women under 5’4 tall, that puts customers in control of what gets made. “We’re on a mission to democratise the fashion industry and shape the future of fashion,” she told RTIH during a recent interview.

Isabelle Ohnemus, Founder and CEO, EyeFitU

EyeFitU provides personal sizing recommendations to users, across such international brands and online stores as Net-a-Porter, Asos and River Island. The aim of the platform is to remove the stress of shopping (brought about by global inconsistencies in sizing), reduce returns rates and ultimately, bring fun back into the shopping experience. Natalie Berg, Founder, NBK Retail

Natalie recently launched NBK Retail, a consultancy specialising in retail trends and strategy.

She was previously Director of Retail Insights at Planet Retail. A regular industry commentator for the BBC, Bloomberg, CNBC and Sky News, she is also a published author and is currently finalising her latest book which is focused on the rise of Amazon.

Miya Knights, Head of Industry Insight, Eagle Eye

Miya recently joined digital marketing platform provider, Eagle Eye.

She was previously Global Technology Research Director at Planet Retail, and a Senior Research Analyst with IDC Retail Insights. She has edited Retail Technology magazine for 10 years, which she also now owns and publishes.

Christine Bardwell, Senior Loyalty Cloud Product Strategist, Oracle

Prior to Oracle, Christine was an independent consultant and freelance analyst. She has also held such positions as Manager, Retail Insights EMEA, IDC and Senior Analyst – Retail Technology at Ovum.

Sharon Peters, Head Of Technology Corporate Systems, Marks and Spencer

Sharon is a M&S veteran. In addition to her above mentioned current role, she has held such positions as IT Programme Manager Foods and Franchise (BSM) and Head of International Supply Chain Operations and Planning. She was also voted in to chair and set up a gender network for the retailer, which is now leading change across the organisation.

Nadine Sharara, E-commerce and Customer Director, Hobbs London

Nadine boasts full end-to-end e-commerce and retail experience from platform development through to trading optimisation. She is passionate about customers, experienced in cross channel retail, inspired by brands, and a thought leader in the retail technology landscape and digital architecture.
