Tesco announces agri-tech startups competition

Tesco has teamed with the World Agri-Tech Innovation Summit to combine its Agri T-Jam initiative with the pre-summit Pitch Day.

The competition will give early stage Agri-Tech ventures the chance to compete for exclusive fast-track introduction to Tesco’s supply chain partners and mentoring from its agricultural team. The grocery giant is seeking disruptive breakthrough technologies and turnkey solutions that have the potential to optimise its supply chain. 

Areas of particular interest include: Sustainable feed; Reduction of farm level emissions; Responsible use of antibiotics; Meat grading and quality; On farm sensor technology and remote sensing; Sustainable crop protection; Soil health; Water management; Automation and robotics; Waste reduction.

A shortlist of ten companies will be invited to present live in front the Tesco panel of judges and a group of investors, corporate partners and agribusiness experts at the World Agri-Tech Pitch Day on 15th October in London.

The winner will be given the opportunity to trial their technology with Tesco’s supply chain partners, and benefit from mentoring from Tesco’s agricultural team. They will also present in front of the audience at the World Agri-Tech Innovation Summit on 16th October as part of the Technology Showcase. All ten finalists will be invited to attend the two-day summit to network with agri-business leaders and gain insights from the agenda.
