Five retailers/brands that are all about the blockchain right now

These retailers and brands are leading the way in the blockchain space.

1. Ikea Iceland

Ikea Iceland has taken part in a commercial transaction on the Ethereum blockchain, using smart contracts and licensed e-money to settle an e-invoice with local retailer Nordic Store.

2. Walmart

Walmart has tapped blockchain technology to track its Indian-sourced shrimp to select Sam's Club retail stores in the US. The pilot project is the first known use of blockchain for shrimp exports from an Indian farmer to an overseas retailer.

3. CU

CHAI is launching mobile blockchain-based payments at 13,500 CU convenience stores in South Korea.

4. Overstock

US online retailer Overstock has opened a new R&D centre in Ireland, bringing its teams in the country under one roof.

According to a press release, this is located at the Westgate tech campus in the IDA’s business park in Finisklin, Sligo town. It will focus on developing innovations in the blockchain, e-commerce and machine learning spaces. 

5. Karma Automotive

California-based luxury electric car manufacturer Karma Automotive is now accepting Bitcoin as a means of payment at one of its stores in Newport Beach.
