Ikea allows invoice to be paid via Ethereum blockchain
Ikea Iceland has taken part in a commercial transaction on the Ethereum blockchain, using smart contracts and licensed e-money to settle an e-invoice with local retailer Nordic Store.
Tradeshift facilitated the transfer using an Ethereum-based version of the Icelandic króna created by Monerium, according to a press release.
Stefán Árnason, CFO at Ikea Iceland, says that “a programmable financial supply chain, where trading partners can connect information flows to money flows through smart contracts, will transform how suppliers and customers interact.”
“The science fiction is when Tradeshift integrates with Monerium. It connects the invoicing, the money, and the inventory,” adds Hafsteinn Gudbjartsson, Co-owner, Nordic Store.
