adidas taps Facebook AR tech at new London store

Shoppers at the new adidas flagship store in London can now use the Instagram Camera on their mobiles to unlock AR installations that bring to life the stories behind the brand’s product innovations.

This has been produced in collaboration with Facebook, under the direction of Facebook Creative Shop and utilising the social media giant’s Spark AR platform.

Customers can scan posters to reveal three different experiences and learn more about each product innovation:

  • 4D: 3D printed mid sole that is made with light and oxygen using Carbon digital Light Synthesis technology combined with data-led design innovation. The AR experience comes to life as a fluid art piece that shifts and moves with your perspective.

  • FUTURECRAFT LOOP: Gen2 is the first proof of concept for adidas’ 100% recyclable performance running shoe. The LOOP CREATION PROCESS is a closed loop design and manufacturing model for creating one material sportswear that is made to be remade. The AR experience showcases the LOOP journey from discarded plastic to performance trainer.

  • UNIFORIA: The official match ball for Euro 2020 features a design symbolising the crossing of borders and blurring of boundaries to reflect the competition’s first transcontinental tournament. The ball’s design brings you into an AR game experience where you can take to the field for a free kick challenge with the ability to share scores to Instagram Stories and invite friends to compete.
