SoftBank Robotics gets in to the cafe business

SoftBank’s robotics division has launched Pepper Parlor, a café located at the Tokyu Plaza Shibuya in Japan.

Pepper robots will help staff members serve the likes of waffles and drinks. They will greet customers, take orders and chat with people at their tables. Customers will also be able to purchase Pepper Parlor accessories.

SoftBank Robotics launched the 120-cm-tall talking Pepper robot in 2015 and it has been put to work in such locations as hospitals, stores and museums.

SoftBank is also deploying two of its other robots, Nao and Whiz, at the café. Nao will perform table dances (family friendly dances, we should stress), while Whiz will clean the joint using its AI-powered technology.
