Ocado lands RTIH innovative pureplay award
Ocado has emerged triumphant in the Most Innovative Pureplay category at the first ever RTIH Innovation Awards.
2019 highlights included expanding its network of development hubs to London, creating around 300 new jobs in the process.
Ocado also launched a trial of its one-hour delivery service, Ocado Zoom, in March. And it inked a customer fulfilment centre partnership agreement with Australia’s Coles Group, its fifth major overseas deal in the past couple of years.
A big thank you to our 2019 judging panel for their help in picking our 2019 winners.

Judges’ comments on Ocado included:
“A very close run race between Ocado and Farfetch. Both have not only created successful businesses and innovated with their own sectors but have leveraged their technology and logistics capabilities to become suppliers to others within their sector.
I could only use commercial insight to separate them. FarFetch’s share price has dropped from a high of nearly $30 to around $10 in the last year while Ocado’s has increased from £800 to £1,346 per share giving it a market cap of £9.5 billion. So, Ocado edge it for me as I believe they have a more solid and sustainable business.”
“Ocado had had an impressive year, not only capturing an impressive assortment of new retail clients globally, but also achieving this concurrently with the launch of Zoom, the online convenience version for London dwellers, and also joining up with M&S to bring the heritage brand’s food range offering online for the very first time next September. This has all been achieved through recognition for their industry leading online and supply chain technology.”
