RTIH awards showcase retail innovations sparked by coronavirus

RTIH INNOVATION AWARDS SPONSORED BY

RTIH has unveiled the eighth shortlist for its 2020 Innovation Awards.

This includes a Best Coronavirus Innovation category.

The pandemic has had a major impact on the way that we shop and the way that retailers operate.

This award will go to the company who has best turned to technology to solve the challenges presented by the Covid-19 era, improving in-store and/or online experiences for both staff and customers.

Here are the runners and riders.

Aldi UK

Aldi UK is rolling out Click and Collect to 200+ stores by Christmas.

Currys PC World/Go Instore

Currys PC World is adding more colleagues to its online offering ShopLive and Order & Collect service to cope with demand in the lead up to Black Friday and Christmas.

Etam/Bambuser

Etam partnered with Bambuser to enable live shopping during its annual Live Show event.

Fender/Wunderkind

Fender worked with Wunderkind to create a new community via its Fender Play app with the launch of a free guitar learning service during lockdown.

InPost/Missguided

Missguided has announced a partnership with InPost which will see 180 of the latter’s UK parcel lockers branded with the pureplay’s visuals in the run up to Christmas and beyond.

The aim is to raise awareness of this contact-free delivery and returns option.

Ocucon

Occupi by Ocucon is an intelligent occupancy management system that allows retailers to remotely monitor and manage the flow of shoppers in and out of their stores – coordinated via signage, CCTV and door entry and closing systems.

It is installed in Aldi’s 1,040 UK and Ireland stores with other major retailers now looking to invest in the technology.

What’s next?

We will now ask our judging panel to cast their votes and provide their feedback.

The winner will be revealed in mid-December.
