Ocado hit by US ITC investigation into its robot technology
The United States International Trade Commission (ITC) has announced plans to launch a formal investigation into Ocado, which could prevent its robots and other technologies entering the country.
It will look into Ocado’s Smart Platform (OSP) technology based on allegations of infringement of numerous patents from Norwegian firm AutoStore. Further details here.

Ocado is currently building 20 automated distribution centres Stateside for Kroger, with the first one scheduled to open early next year.
“Kroger has a level of responsibility to perform due diligence and ensure Ocado provides complete transparency to their operations. No court or investigating body can ignore the importance of the US and Kroger to Ocado,” says Brittain Ladd, a supply chain consultant and former Amazon exec.
“I’ve stated from the beginning of this matter that Ocado should be prevented from operating in the US and all construction on Ocado’s facilities should be halted.”
Ocado did not respond to our request for comment.
