MishiPay picks up RTIH Payments Innovation award
MishiPay has emerged triumphant in the Payments Innovation category at the 2020 RTIH Innovation Awards, sponsored by PMC.
The award recognises companies and projects/initiatives that are both innovative and customer and retailer friendly.
MishiPay impressed our judging panel with its well rounded queue busting solution and rapid expansion during 2020.
The company started the year with its mobile self-checkout solution being used in a number of retailers across Europe, including PicWicToys in France, Decathlon in the Netherlands and Israel and MediaMarktSaturn in Germany.
The focus had been on improving convenience in stores. However, the arrival of the coronavirus pandemic brought a new priority: the safety of customers and staff.
MishiPay’s technology eliminates the need to touch any store hardware or to wait in a line in close proximity to others. With Covid-19 looming large, the company created a solution that works not only for big ticket items but also for fast moving consumer goods.
Its tech has, meanwhile, also been rolled out across Decathlon’s 81 stores in Germany, launched in BWG Foods’ grocery stores in Ireland and in all MUJI UK locations.
MishiPay is also now being deployed across MUJI’s European stores. Most recently, travel retailer Dufry debuted a Scan, Buy, Fly solution in Zurich Airport.
Mustafa Khanwala, Founder and CEO, MishiPay, says: “It's a real honour to be named as the winner of the Payments Innovation prize, particularly when we were up against such esteemed peers and partners like Adyen and PayPal.”
“We have made big strides during what has been a rollercoaster year, deploying our technology in hundreds of stores across the world and being used every day by thousands of shoppers.”
“We're proud that we've been able to help make stores safer for both shoppers and staff in nine new countries in the face of the pandemic, and are grateful that the RTIH judges have recognised our impact,” he concludes.
