UEFA taps blockchain tech for Euro 2020 ticket initiative
UEFA is to distribute over one million Euro 2020 tickets across all 51 matches via a blockchain-enabled mobile application.
It claims that this will make “entry into stadiums smooth, safe and secure.” It adds that the new system will help prevent the replication and duplication of tickets, with QR codes only being activated by Bluetooth once fans are in close proximity to the stadium.
The app will be available for download toward the end of May for both Android and iOS devices. Tickets will be delivered no later than seven days before the match. Further details here.
