Online heavyweight Wayfair appoints new Chief Technology Officer

Home and furniture e-commerce giant Wayfair has announced Jim Miller as its new full time Chief Technology Officer.

Miller has been a board member for four years and the interim CTO for the past eight months. He has previously held leadership positions at Google, Cisco and Amazon.

“As one of my former bosses used to say (well, still says!) "It's just day 1!" Looking forward to a fun timing making history (again)!” he said in a LinkedIn post.

“Also, during these unprecedented times, I know many are looking for new opportunities. Wayfair continues to launch new initiatives, hire bright individuals, and innovate our technology. This holds especially true today as people are turning to online shopping more than ever,” he continued.

Miller added that he is adding leaders to the company within both engineering and product management. “This is a stellar group of individuals committed to growing Wayfair. We are striving to create a more meaningful customer experience in today’s world,” he commented. Further details on that here.

"We are fortunate to have had the benefit of Jim's leadership and perspective both as a long time board member and as interim CTO and so, it is without a doubt that his move into the permanent CTO role will be seamless and immediately impactful," said Wayfair CEO and Co-founder Niraj Shah.

"Jim's track record of strong leadership at fast growing, large scale, technology companies makes him the ideal fit to guide our 3,000 plus person engineering team and to continue to build a world class technology infrastructure that further strengthens our position at the forefront of the e-commerce industry."
