E-commerce space accounts for quarter of top 100 sites
The UK Domain, a specialist in small business advice, has revealed the top 100 websites of 2020 in a new study that highlights how our internet behaviours have changed during the coronavirus outbreak.
There were 25 websites in the top 100 that fell into the e-commerce space. These included Amazon UK coming in as the 6th most visited website in the UK, followed by eBay in 8th place and Argos in 20th.

With non-essential stores closed for a large chunk of the year, Amazon UK’s traffic increased by 32%, growing from 4.9 billion visitors to 6.4 billion.
For the first time Wayfair broke into the top 100. This was more than likely in direct relation to local lockdowns, as UK online searches for home improvements increased by 50% in the last 12 months.
Meanwhile, courier service MyHermes came in at number 100. “With the rise in online shopping there’s no surprise that a company delivering people’s online purchases should become so popular in 2020,” The UK Domain says.
“With parcel tracking, online sending options and a website return functionality there’s lots of reasons for people to visit the website.”
