Online retail startup Bllush calls it a day

Bllush, a Tel Aviv-based startup that matched e-commerce brands with user generated product images, has gone out of business.

“We had quite a journey since first starting in late 2016 and had no idea it would go this far,” Co-founder and CEO, Tomer Dean, said in a LinkedIn post.

Highlights, he added, included raising $1.7 million, working with such fashion retailers as Zalando, Otto Group and Trendyol, and reaching $400K ARR at its peak.

“You might be thinking, if everything is going so well, why are you closing?” Tomer continued. “The answer is pretty simple - not able to find true product market fit.”

“My goal was to always build an amazing product that users love. Not a mediocre one. The world has enough mediocre products as it is. No need for another.”

“Although our product had qualitative value, the business side was not growing as expected. We weren’t able to pass the Valley of Death.”

He ended the LinkedIn post by thanking his employees, customers, investors, partners and friends. “Thanks for sharing the journey and supporting us. Onwards and upwards,” Dean concluded.
