Ikea claims a first as it deploys Mobile Checkout solution in Australia
Ikea is launching its new Mobile Checkout solution in Australia.
This aims to give customers a faster and more convenient checkout experience in-store, with Ikea claiming that the roll-out is a first for home furnishing retailers down under.
Going live ahead of the Christmas shopping period, customers shopping at Ikea Logan and North Lakes in Queensland will be the first to experience the feature, which can be activated via the retailer’s app, or by scanning a QR code in-store.
“Mobile Checkout has been introduced to speed up the checkout process for customers who can now scan products directly on their phone as they shop and pay at the marked checkouts on the way out - no need to unpack and repack trolleys or bags to complete payment,” Ikea said in a LinkedIn post.
Nude Foods Market and MishiPay
Also on the mobile checkout front, US-based grocery retailer, Nude Foods Market, recently launched MishiPay tech as the primary payment method in its flagship store in Boulder, Colorado, instead of conventional registers.
The Scan, Pay & Go solution enables shoppers to use their own mobile device to scan the QR codes on products in the store to add them to their virtual basket.
Then, when they have completed their shopping, they can checkout instantly with the tap of a button using a variety of digital payment methods and can then leave the store.
The customer receives a digital receipt that is also emailed to them. The next time they visit the store, shoppers can use MishiPay to register any glass storage jars they have returned, and receive an automatic account credit.
