Amazon Prime Video picks up 12 Oscar 2021 nominations
The nominees for the 2021 Oscars have been revealed. And Amazon Prime Video has put in a strong showing with 12 nods.
It has been recognised for Sound of Metal (which is in the running for Best Picture), One Night in Miami, Borat Subsequent Moviefilm and Time.

This year's winners will be announced on 25th April at a delayed ceremony that will take place at both the Dolby Theatre, the ceremony's normal home, and Los Angeles' main railway hub, Union Station.

Borat Subsequent Moviefilm was streamed by “tens of million of customers” during its debut weekend last year, resulting in huge engagement across the Prime Video platform.
The streamer did not give exact numbers. But it’s worth noting that there are more than 150 million Amazon Prime members around the world.
“Sacha Baron Cohen (who plays Borat) has masterfully created one of the most well received films of these unprecedented times, showcasing some of the best and the worst of us, wrapped in one outrageous moment after another,” Amazon Studios Chief Jennifer Salke said in a statement.
“But at its core, Borat 2 is a heartwarming story of a father-daughter relationship and of female empowerment seen through a hysterical, satirical lens.”
She concluded: “With the tremendous launch of this global, tentpole movie, it’s clear our customers around the world want content that is both relevant and entertaining.”
