Rakuten Europe and Chiliz launch fan token partnership

Chiliz, the blockchain venture behind the Socios.com fan engagement platform, has announced a partnership with Rakuten Europe.

The latter’s customers in Spain, UK and Germany can use Rakuten points to redeem fan tokens.

These are collectible, tradable digital assets that provide owners with benefits including voting rights, VIP rewards, club and sponsor promotions, AR enabled features and super fan recognition on Socios.com.

Rakuten is now offering them for FC Barcelona ($BAR), Paris Saint-Germain ($PSG), Juventus ($JUV), Atlético de Madrid ($ATM), AS Roma ($ASR), Galatasaray ($GAL) and AC Milan ($ACM).

More, including the likes of Manchester City, will be added to its ecosystem and the partnership is set to expand into additional markets in Europe and worldwide. 

Chiliz and Rakuten will also explore further integrations, with a view to creating a global space where their users can interface with both platforms freely.

Chiliz will also work with the Rakuten blockchain lab, with the latter becoming an official node validator for the Chiliz $CHZ blockchain.
