Six retail technology funding rounds you need to know about
RTIH rounds up the retail systems ventures who have been making waves with major investments.
1. Klevu
Klevu, a provider of AI powered search technology for e-commerce sites, has closed a $12 million Series A round.
This was led by AlfvΓ©n & Didrikson, with participation from initial investors EVLI Growth Partners, Jerry Pruttz Holding and Jonas Dromberg.
2. Slice
Digital pizza ordering platform Slice has landed $40 million in a funding round led by Cross Creek.
3. EcoCart
Sustainable shopping startup EcoCart has bagged $3 million in seed funding led by Base10 Partners' Chris Zeoli.
The US-based company has developed an e-commerce plugin for merchants to offer carbon neutral orders and a Chrome extension for shoppers looking to lower their carbon footprint.
4. Loyalize
White label engagement platform, Loyalize, has raised Β£250,000 in pre-seed funding as it ramps up product development and works towards a larger round later this year.
Founded in 2019, the venture allows customers to get rewarded on transactions through connecting their payment cards, or bank accounts, to an existing loyalty programme.
It is being backed by fund investors SFC Capital, along with top-up contributions from new and existing angels.
5. Berlin Brands Group
German e-commerce venture Berlin Brands Group has raised $240 million in debt financing to fund acquisitions of companies selling on Amazon.
Unicredit, Deutsche Bank and Commerzbank were part of the banking consortium that extended the loan.
6. Marketplacer
Australian retail tech company, Marketplacer, has secured new funding ($4 million) from Salesforce Ventures to help accelerate North American expansion.
The platform-as-a-service venture, which was established in 2016, builds online marketplaces, with clients including Myer, BikeExchange, Metcash, FishBrain, Nokia, Surfstitch, Petstock, Providoor and Bob Jane T-Marts.
