Scotch & Soda combines omnichannel ambitions with stores push

Dutch fashion retailer Scotch & Soda has opened its largest ever store, in the city of 's-Hertogenbosch, also known as Den Bosch.

The new location has been conceived as both a social and retail space, featuring a bar serving complimentary soft drinks, and a family fitting room where kids will be encouraged to get creative with an art wall and a series of laughing mirrors.

The launch follows the recent openings of locations in Utrecht and the Westfield Mall of the Netherlands in Leidschendam.

Scotch & Soda says it will open at least another 12 bricks and mortar stores and 12 shop-in-shops worldwide before the end of October, adding to the brand's network of 227 stores and 161 shop-in-shops.

This will include the USA, Germany, France, Israel, Australia, Middle East, Ukraine, Switzerland and Sweden and for the first time Poland in September.

Scotch & Soda is also looking to expand its presence in China and Italy with new showrooms in Shanghai and Milan in June.

This physical push will be combined with an omnichannel and unified commerce project, set for completion in 2022, and involving a new sustainable 27,500 square metre warehouse in Hoofddorp and the integration of RFID technology in partnership with Nedap for stock level optimisation.

Frederick Lukoff, CEO, comments: "This week's opening is a pivotal moment in our history despite the obstructive effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on our current retail performance.”

“We recognise the significant importance to connect with our customers no matter the circumstances, and we remain confident that better days will come.”

He concludes: “It will remain fundamental to connect with our customers one-on-one in stores, in combination with all the growing digital distribution channels, in order to offer the best possible experience to our customers in the future."
