Costa Coffee deploys Starship Technologies delivery robots in Milton Keynes
Costa Coffee has teamed with US startup Starship Technologies to launch robot coffee delivery in Milton Keynes.
“Excited to see how many customers adapt to these great autonomous delivery vehicles,” Jamie Awdry, Head of Propositions at Costa Coffee, said in a LinkedIn post.
“A big thank you to Mark Strange (Proposition Implementation Manager at Costa Coffee) and Sandra Sooläte at Starship for making this happen.”
Also in Milton Keynes…
Starship Technologies has been operating in Milton Keynes since 2018, working with the likes of the Co-op and Tesco.
During the coronavirus outbreak, its robots have been delivering shopping to Milton Keynes NHS staff for free.
“We want to make life a little bit easier for these people in these very, very stressful times," says Starship’s Henry Harris-Burland.
"Lots of them are doing 80 hour weeks and they don't have time to go to the local grocery store, so they use our robots for their shopping. We're honoured that we can be part of that solution."
"Lots of the residents have been reaching out to us online asking us to deliver into their neighbourhood," he adds.
"We're doing everything we can as quickly as possible to expand to offer this service to more people, especially at this really important time."
The robots have been delivering lunch to workers (using Starship’s mobile app) from such local vendors as Peels Juice Bar, Pepes Piri Piri, Bandit Street Food, Maaya Indian and Legend One Sushi Bar.
