€1 billion…Czech online grocery startup Rohlik has announced a €100 million Series C funding round, valuing it at €1 billion.

The was led by Index Ventures, which was also part of Rohlik’s $230 million Series B that it raised three months ago. Previous backers including Partech and Quadrille Capital also participated in the latest round.

Rohlik has expanded to Hungary and Austria and is working on its first launch in Germany, in Munich. Romania, Italy, France and Spain are also on its list.

7…Autonomous delivery company Starship Technologies celebrated its seventh birthday this week.

81…US fashion retailer Gap is set to close all its 81 stores in the UK and Ireland and go online only.

A spokesperson said the decision followed a strategic review of its European business. As a result, it is also looking to offload its stores in France and Italy.

50…Earlier this year, digital operations platform venture Brightpearl launched its search for the inaugural Lightning 50, a league table sponsored by TrustPilot.

It is inviting UK online retailers who have seen huge growth since the emergence of the coronavirus pandemic to register to be in for a chance of inclusion. 

Entries are open until Friday, 16th July and the final list will be published on 23rd September. 

1, 8 and 20Ecosia, a Berlin-based search engine that uses its advertising profits to plant trees, is launching its first ever t-shirt fashion collection in partnership with eight visual artists.

For every tee purchased from TeeMill, 20 trees will be planted in biodiversity hotspots and in collaboration with local communities. 

35%…Cash only small businesses risk losing customers by not offering alternative payment options, according to research from tomato pay.

The venture, which has developed a QR code based payments and invoice app, surveyed 2,007 Brits and 500 500 senior decision makers in soletrader, SME businesses.

35% of the former said they now decide where they shop based on whether or not the business accepts non-cash payments and one in five people would be put off from using a small business if they could only pay in cash.

1, 30,000 and 3Asda has announced a one hour Express Delivery service, offering its full online range of over 30,000 products.

This has been launched at three Asda stores, with the retailer stating that there is potential to quickly roll-out the service to more locations if it proves popular with customers.

61%…Shelf gaps continue to pose customer experience (CX) issues for UK shoppers in-store, according to research from electronic shelf labels venture Pricer

The company surveyed 2,043 UK shoppers and found that 61% are experiencing shelf-gaps and out-of-stocks.

$67.5 millionShogun has raised $67.5 million in Series C funding led by Insight Partners, with participation from Initialized Capital, Accel, and VMG Partners. 

The venture has developed a platform to help e-commerce businesses built on platforms like Shopify, Magento and BigCommerce design and run their own responsive storefronts.

The Series C values it at $575 million.

2…UK-based on demand grocery delivery venture, Grocemania, has launched its first dark store in Kingston, London. A second store in Twickenham is set to open in early July.

2 and 200,000Domino’s Pizza is launching a new guarantee for US customers: carside online delivery within two minutes.

People can place their order, check in when they arrive, and as soon as their food is ready, a Domino’s team member will head to their car in less than two minutes or their next pizza will be free.

In addition, Domino’s and DraftKings, a sports entertainment and technology company, have launched Domino’s Carside Delivery 2-Minute Guarantee Over/Under Challenge.

This gives customers the chance to predict if the offering will be quicker than two minutes, more or less than 80% of the time, for the chance to win a share of $200,000.

60,000…Cloud-based payment solutions provider, Checkout.com, has been certified as a BigCommerce Technology Partner. 

BigCommerce’s 60,000 global merchants can now integrate Checkout.com’s platform, offering gateway, processor, risk management, and global acquiring footprint, directly through their BigCommerce Control Panel. 

€10 millionSecret Sales, an online marketplace for fashion, footwear, accessories, beauty and homeware, has secured €10 million in Series A funding.

This was led by the family backed private equity and growth capital investor Perwyn Growth Capital and supported by Belerion Capital, an early stage investor in Asos, The Hut Group and boohoo.
