Iceland expands Uber Eats rapid grocery delivery tie up
Iceland will extend its rapid grocery delivery partnership with Uber Eats to 300 stores from April.
This builds on a 100 store trial that the UK supermarket launched last year amid the Covid-19 outbreak.
Iceland and Uber Eats did not respond to our request for comment.
Shell
Also in 2021, Uber Eats stepped up its battle for the UK everyday grocery delivery market by adding more than 340 Shell forecourt stores across the country to its platform.
Shell stores were previously on the Deliveroo platform, so this was a big win for Uber Eats.
Its customers can now get groceries from Little Waitrose, Jamie Oliver Deli and Budgens delivered “within minutes” through the venture’s app.
Sunjiv Shah, General Manager of Uber Eats in the UK, said: “As demand for grocery and essential items continues to soar on the Uber Eats app, we’re delighted to bring Shell to the app as an exclusive partner.”
Bernie Williamson, GM of Retail in the UK at Shell, commented: “With Uber Eats, we’re able to reach even more customers and expand our delivery services across the UK.”
“We offer our customers convenience on the go and with this new collaboration we can now also offer a wide selection of food and essentials, available for delivery to your door in less than 30 minutes.”
RangeMe
Iceland and The Food Warehouse recently teamed up with global product discovery platform RangeMe.
They now have access to more than 800,000 products from over 200,000 suppliers.
Their team of buyers will tap RangeMe’s software to discover brands and products faster, connect with suppliers, request samples, and discuss next steps.
RangeMe launched in 2014 and is now used by more than 15,000 retail buyers in the UK, Benelux region, North America, and Asia Pacific.
Andrew Staniland, Trading Director at Iceland, said: “Joining forces with RangeMe has already transformed our sourcing and buying process.”
“Our customers have increasingly diverse tastes and preferences and RangeMe’s technology presents us with opportunity from the global product market on one screen”
He added: “Huge opportunity exists in collaborating. Embracing new technology, as we have with RangeMe, is key to getting ahead in the retail industry.”
“This partnership has streamlined our approach to buying and sourcing and we will continue to maximise the software to supercharge our efforts to get the best of the best onto the shelves in our stores as quickly as possible.”
