Grocery delivery service buymie airs first TV advertisement
Irish same-day grocery delivery provider, buymie, has launched its first national TV advertisement, titled ‘We shop like you do’.
This aired nationwide on RTE on Monday with out-of-home advertising in Dublin, Cork, Limerick and Galway appearing on buses, bus stops and radio since 25th April.
The campaign highlights “the care and attention buymie personal shoppers take to meet customers' personal preferences and requests, ensuring the best substitutions and highest quality fresh products are picked and delivered from Dunnes Stores and Lidl - just like you would.”
CEO and Co-founder of buymie, Devan Hughes, says: “This is such an exciting milestone for the business. From my early days out delivering every buymie order, it is really incredible to see how far our brand has come and the scale of our activities today.”
Buymie CMO, Maria Bullen, adds: “buymie is a personal shopping service. Yes we can deliver your weekly grocery shop today, or even in as little as an hour, but we believe that shouldn’t be at the expense of quality, good shelf lives and getting what you need.”
“The ad campaign “We shop like you do” was inspired from feedback from happy customers and also from our own childhoods. All of us on the team were taught from ‘knee high’ what great produce looks, feels and smells like from our mams, our dads, our grannys and our grandads. “
“We can hear them telling us to ‘check the eggs aren’t broken, reach for the milk from the back of the fridge!’. That’s exactly how our personal shoppers are selected and trained to shop. In the app you can add in special requests for the shoppers so they can shop just like you, and also call you about any substitutes.”
The TV advertisement was created by The Cafe Agency, and directed by National Film School graduate, Emma Smith.
Smith directed and co-wrote ‘Starry Night’, which premiered at Galway Film Fleadh 2019, and has since picked up awards such as Best Irish Short at Indie Cork Film Festival, Best Student Short at Kerry International Film Festival and Best Undergrad drama at the Royal Television Society Awards ROI and the UK.
This is her first TV advertisement.
She is a recipient of a Rising Star Award from Irish Screen America New York 2019 and was awarded Best Student Director at the 2020 Emerging Director Awards and was shortlisted for a Young Director award at Cannes 2020.
The advertisement was produced by Dublin based production company Bottle.
