AiFi opens 80 computer vision powered autonomous stores

AiFi has reached the milestone of 80 autonomous retail stores open worldwide.

By working with technology providers and retailers such as Verizon, Microsoft, Carrefour, Aldi, Compass Group, Sodexo, Choice Market and Żabka Group, AiFi says that it has deployed the largest number of camera only, computer vision powered stores across North America, Europe, Middle East, and Asia.

This year, it increased its speed of deployment to two stores per week.

AiFi showcased this by opening 50 computer vision powered locations with Żabka, Poland’s largest convenience store chain, in the span of a few months.

“The biggest challenge that tech providers in our space are experiencing is scalability, or in other words, figuring out how to meet the needs of each individual retailer and their respective customer base, while successfully deploying these autonomous stores at a rate that meets the fast growing demand we’re seeing,” says João Diogo Falcão, Chief Technology Officer at AiFi.

“We are the only company that can deploy an autonomous store in less than a week within a vast range of venues and store formats.”

“We are incredibly proud to share that we now have 80 stores open, more than double the number of Amazon Go stores, which showcases our unique ability to share our computer vision powered solution with retailers looking to be at the forefront of tech innovation.”

In 2022 thus far, AiFi powered stores have seen over 800,000 shoppers and processed the purchase of close to 2.5 million unique items worldwide.

Retailers have three options when they choose to partner with the firm:

●      Transform an existing store, as Sodexo and the University of Denver recently did with two convenience stores inside residential halls.

●      Create new hybrid or fully autonomous stores, which Żabka Group has done with many of its 50 checkout-free stores across Europe.

●      Deploy a ready to go portable store, which is optimal for crowded events such as the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix race and New York City’s Governors Ball.
