Notching up a checkout-free first: AiFi powered Żabka Nano autonomous store opens at hospital in Poland
Żabka Group’s Żabka Nano pop-up autonomous store offering is now live at Szpital Wojewódzki w Poznaniu hospital in Poland.
In a LinkedIn post, Patryk Powierża, Head of Growth at Żabka Polska, said: “First Żabka Nano store in a hospital.”
“We truly believe that autonomous stores can bring more convenience to the life of our customers. Thanks to this autonomous technology we can open our store in locations where traditional stores can’t appear.”
“Our Nano store in the hospital will be open in a few weeks and it will be ready to serve patients, their families, and hospital employees in 24/7/365 mode.”
Microsoft IEC
Żabka Nano is now a part of the Microsoft Industry Experience Center in Washington, USA.
Powierża commented: “Microsoft IEC is a unique place.”
“It is the physical manifestation of the company’s vision for the future and its belief that all successful companies will effectively be tech companies, creating their own innovations. We are glad to be part of it as a pioneer in autonomous retail.”
NRF 2023
Żabka Group was out in force at NRF 2023 in New York earlier this year.
Powered by AiFi tech, Żabka Nano, which was developed under the umbrella of Żabka Future for over a year and a half, was featured at the Microsoft booth.

Powierża said: “We have had great talks with worldwide retailers.”
“All of them were interested in the details of approaching autonomous technology from the retailer's perspective and our plans for how to scale it up. Most of them were from Asia and North and South America.”
He added: “The doors of our Nano store were opened about 1,200 times. Most of the visits included groups of about five to eight people.”
“We can say that a few thousand people had a chance to check the Żabka Nano store. From unofficial info, we know that the Microsoft booth was one of the most interesting during the whole event.”
Powierża concluded: “Opening the pop-up store in NYC was a challenge. I used to compare our store to Ikea Retail, but sending a store from Poland to the USA wasn’t an easy job.”
“The store was assembled in three days and it was fully functional. It only proves how flexible our technology is.”
