Online giant eBay UK partners with London’s Notting Hill Carnival to spotlight sneaker culture

eBay has launched a bespoke sneaker hub in partnership with London’s Notting Hill Carnival.

The online marketplace has joined forces with carnival experts to curate what is pitched as “the ultimate sneakerhead shopping destination ahead of the big weekend (27th and 28th August)”.

Working with Jamaican artist, Carleen De Sozer, eBay has also commissioned a mural celebrating Carnival sneaker culture, to host its Carnival Crep Check Competition with £750 of sneakers up for grabs.

One of the aforementioned experts, Nicole Fox, says : “Carnival is the essence of authenticity - it’s emancipation, it’s freedom and it’s about self expression.”

“When it comes to picking kicks for Carnival the most important thing is how I can be an individual. At Panorama, the band are in uniform so box-fresh kicks that will shine and give me a bit of exclusivity are a must.”

“When I’m playing Mas it’s all about colour coordination and not overshadowing my costume. I pick kicks that complement the feathers or smaller details whilst still being comfortable and complementing my look.”

“I purchased new authenticity guaranteed kicks from eBay ready for this year’s Notting Hill Carnival. I'm planning to wear them for Panorama so I can stand out while performing.”

eBay x Notting Hill Carnival Crep Check Competition

eBay will be hosting the eBay x NHC Crep Check in the heart of Notting Hill Carnival. 

Stationed on the corner of Westbourne Park Road and All Saints Road, on Sunday only, sneakerheads with the best shoes will have the chance to win £750 to shop the eBay x Notting Hill Carnival hub. 

Two runner up prizes including a £100 and £50 voucher are also up for grabs. The competition is live from Sunday 27th August to Sunday 3rd September.
