SAP veteran Oliver Grob bids farewell to retail technology giant and steps in to the world of retirement
Oliver Grob has departed SAP, where he spent almost 27 years, most recently serving as Chief Director Digital Transformation - Retail, and entered retirement.
In a LInkedIn post, he said: “Gratitude fills my heart as I bid farewell to an extraordinary almost 27-year journey at SAP. What began as a venture fuelled by my background as an educated mechanical engineer, navigating through revenue calculations and intricate business processes transformed into a deep and affectionate connection.”
“Initially, the prospect of a lasting relationship seemed unlikely, but the unique culture at SAP drew me in—an atmosphere akin to a startup or university, where individuals passionately contributed to the company's overarching goals, transcending personal career ambitions.”
He added: “In these years, I sprinted through challenges, dedicating myself to the success of the company. The culture of collective effort, where each person gave their best, made the experience incredibly rewarding.”
“As I reflect on my career's culmination, I am grateful for the wealth of knowledge gained, the numerous achievements, the diverse experiences, and the friendships formed, including one that blossomed into a lifelong partnership with my wife.”
“Fortune has favoured me, and I consider myself fortunate for the opportunities SAP has presented. Although the decision to embrace the early retirement programme wasn't easy, I acknowledge that every journey has its season. While my passion for business innovation and emerging technologies still burns brightly, I sense an inner calling to explore new avenues beyond SAP.”
Grob concluded: “As I embark on this new chapter, I express my sincere appreciation to all those who have been part of my SAP journey. The camaraderie, support, and shared aspirations have made these years truly special. It's time for me to venture into the uncharted, and while I won't be present here anymore, the memories and lessons from SAP will forever be etched in my heart.”
“I look forward to exploring my passions for motorcycling and aviation as a private pilot. The open roads and the boundless skies await, offering new perspectives and adventures. Here's to new beginnings and exciting discoveries outside the familiar grounds of SAP. Thank you for an incredible ride!”
