UK-based PMC opens Innovation & Delivery Centre in India following recent backing from BGF

British retail technology specialist PMC has officially opened a new Innovation & Delivery Centre (IDC) in Alembic City, Vadodara, India.

Home to over 400 technologists, the 35,000 sq ft facility is designed to accelerate PMC’s delivery of unified commerce, cloud, engineering and managed services. It will support the doubling of scale within the company’s India team and play a pivotal role in enabling large scale transformation programmes for retail and commerce clients worldwide.

The launch follows PMC’s recent backing from BGF, which invested in the business in June, providing growth capital and strategic support to help it scale.

“This is a visionary investment in the future of commerce technology,” says Richard Lowe, CEO at PMC. “Our new IDC in Alembic reflects our long-term commitment to building a global technology ecosystem where collaboration drives innovation and simplifies complexity for our clients worldwide.”

“The next phase of PMC’s global growth will be built on shared innovation and expertise,” says Paul Mason, Founder at PMC. “Our new IDC demonstrates how PMC is leveraging cross-border collaboration to deliver high impact solutions for commerce brands.

“India’s tech workforce isn’t just coding for the world - it’s co-creating solutions that drive global retail transformation,” adds Urvi Parekh, Country Head (India) at PMC. “Our teams in Alembic are helping retailers modernise core systems, improve resilience and scalability, and drive down the total cost of ownership. One recent example involved our teams helping a major European retailer reduce TCO by over 40%.”

Duncan Wade, Investor at BGF, who has recently joined the PMC board as a Non-Executive Director, comments; “This is an incredibly exciting opening and development for this business, and further confirmation of their commitment to cross-border investment. We are excited to see how the IDC becomes a real leader in innovation and talent development.”

2025 RTIH INNOVATION AWARDS

Unified commerce was a key focus area at the 2025 RTIH Innovation Awards.

VoCoVo, Everseen, Sensei, Gander, Iceland, Olio, Trust Retail, East of England Co-op, Lekkerland SE, Poq, Mamas & Papas, Varner, Sitoo, and Zebra Technologies were among our winners this year.

We received a record number of entries and many fantastic examples of the continued resilience and dynamism of the retail space during hugely challenging times.

Our 2025 hall of fame entrants were revealed during a sold out event which took place at The HAC in Central London on 16th October and consisted of a drinks reception, three course meal, and awards ceremony presided over by award winning comedian, actress and writer Tiff Stevenson.

In his welcome speech, Scott Thompson, Founder and Editor, RTIH, said: “This is the awards’ fifth year as a physical event. We started off with just 30 people at the South Place Hotel not far from here, then moved to London Bridge Hotel, then The Barbican, and last year RIBA’s HQ in the West End.”

“But I’m conscious of the fact that, to quote the legend that is Taylor Swift, You’re only as hot as your last hit, baby. So, this year we’ve moved to our biggest venue yet, and also pulled in our largest number of entries to date and broken attendance records.”

He added: “This year’s submissions have without doubt been our best yet. To quote one of the judges: The examples of innovative developments across both traditional and digital retail spaces were truly remarkable.”

Congratulations to our winners, and a big thank you to our sponsors, judging panel, the legend that is Tiff Stevenson, and all those who attended our 2025 gathering.
