Stepping down: Simon Curtis announces departure from retail technology specialist PMC

Simon Curtis will this week step down from his role (Strategic Development Director) at PMC.

In a LinkedIn post, Curtis (who joined the retail technology specialist in 2019), said: “It’s been a genuinely special few years. I could not have chosen a better business and set of colleagues and clients to work with in my final chapter of full time work.”

“I’ve had the privilege of working alongside a brilliant team, partnering with fantastic clients, and being part of a journey that has seen PMC grow strongly, secure investment from BGF, and expand internationally with our new location in Baroda at Alembic Park, giving us the capacity to scale to over 1,000 people in India.”

He added: “What I’ll take away most, though, is the people. We’ve built and grown an extraordinary team at PMC - talented, committed, and great to work with - and that will continue to be the foundation of the business’s success. Just as importantly, PMC’s culture and values are not just words on a wall - they are real, lived, and deeply embedded in how the business operates every day. Built from day one by Paul Mason, those founding principles remain at the heart of everything PMC does. Long may they continue.”

Curtis noted that, over the past few months, he has been handing over his responsibilities to ensure a smooth transition, and is now turning to a portfolio career, focusing on advisory and non-executive roles, “particularly where I can support businesses navigating growth, transformation and the evolving retail and technology landscape.”

He concluded: “A sincere thank you to everyone I’ve worked with, colleagues, clients and partners. I’ve learned a great deal and made friendships I’ll genuinely value. Grateful for the journey, proud of what we’ve built - and excited for what comes next.”

BGF

Last year, PMC secured undisclosed investment from BGF, to help with the expansion of its services, supporting customers' digital transformation initiatives, across both digital and physical platforms.

Founded in 2001, PMC provides consulting, professional services, digital engineering and managed services, to over 120 retail, commerce and technology customers, across 24 countries. The 500-strong team from the UK and India has built a customer base that includes WHSmith, National Express, Primark, Crew Clothing and World Duty Free.

“BGF was a natural choice for us, as we take this next step in our growth journey. We look forward to working with their team closely, as we continue our global expansion and further develop our services for our growing commerce customer base," said Richard Lowe, CEO at PMC.

Former Kingfisher executive Paul Worthington remains on the company’s board, as a Non-Executive Director, together with Paul Mason.
