Digital signage firm Scala gears up to celebrate 40th anniversary in 2027 with call for memories, mementos and milestones
Scala, a digital signage and marketing technology company, is calling on its network of partners, integrators, clients and industry colleagues across Europe and beyond to contribute memories, images, video, press coverage and personal anecdotes as the company prepares to mark its 40th anniversary in 2027.
The appeal begins in person at The AV Showcase 2026, taking place at Lord’s Cricket Ground, London on 12th-13th May.
“Forty years is a remarkable milestone in any industry, but in the fast-moving world of marketing technology, it is truly extraordinary and is a testament to the brilliance and dedication of the Scala team, our partners and our clients. From our earliest days as a pioneering multimedia company in Norway to the award-winning, continent spanning projects we are delivering today, Scala has always been driven by innovation and a passion for creating exceptional digital experiences,” says Harry Horn, General Manager at Scala EMEA.
“What better place to begin our appeal to the AV community than at the AV Showcase? We hope that our partners past and present will be able to help us as we collate the milestones from the last 40 years for a celebratory campaign which will run across 2027.”
Titled Scala: The First 40, the anniversary celebration will see the company, which formed in Norway in 1987, share its story including technical triumphs, installation innovation and high profile projects through a dedicated section at scala.com. This will launch in late 2026 and feature milestone moments as well as images and interviews with partners. In addition to the dedicated web resources, Scala: The First 40 will also include in-person events across 2027 to mark the anniversary such as dinners, partner pub quizzes and the relaunch of the Scala Awards.
Those who wish to contribute material or their memories to Scala: The First 40 can do so by emailing first40@scala.com. The deadline to submit is 30th November. Members of the Scala team will also be conducting interviews with partners at the AV Showcase. Those attending who wish to be interviewed regarding their work with Scala can do so by emailing the aforementioned address to set up a time to record. Interviews can also take place via online meetings as required.
Scala’s appearance at the AV Showcase follows its tenth time appearing at London’s Retail Technology Show. The company will also display its award winning technology at Shoptalk Europe in Barcelona on 9th-11th June and will be exhibiting at Tech for Retail in Paris on 30th November to 1st December.
It has been a busy year for the company with the release of its core digital signage platform, Scala Enterprise version 13.60, appearances at a variety of trade shows as well as the deployment of digital solutions such as the solution executed in partnership with Repsol, a multi-energy provider and the national in-store digital communications installation for one of the Netherlands’ largest healthcare providers, BENU Apotheek.
2026 RTIH Innovation Awards
Digital signage will be a key focus area at the 2026 RTIH Innovation Awards.
The awards are now open for entries and celebrate global retail technology innovation in a fast moving omnichannel world.
Our winners will be revealed at the 2026 RTIH Innovation Awards Ceremony, taking place at The HAC in Central London on Wednesday, 4th November.
Check out our 2025 winners here.
Our 2025 hall of fame entrants were revealed during a sold out event which took place at The HAC on 16th October and consisted of a drinks reception, three course meal, and awards ceremony presided over by award winning comedian, actress and writer Tiff Stevenson.
In his welcome speech, Scott Thompson, Founder and Editor, RTIH, said: “This is the awards’ fifth year as a physical event. We started off with just 30 people at the South Place Hotel not far from here, then moved to London Bridge Hotel, then The Barbican, and last year RIBA’s HQ in the West End.”
“But I’m conscious of the fact that, to quote the legend that is Taylor Swift, You’re only as hot as your last hit, baby. So, this year we’ve moved to our biggest venue yet, and also pulled in our largest number of entries to date and broken attendance records.”
He added: “This year’s submissions have without doubt been our best yet. To quote one of the judges: The examples of innovative developments across both traditional and digital retail spaces were truly remarkable.”
Congratulations to our winners, and a big thank you to our sponsors, judging panel, the legend that is Tiff Stevenson, and all those who attended our 2025 gathering.
