Lovehoney expands team after busy year

Online sex toy retailer, Lovehoney, is expanding its senior management team, including the newly created role of Chief Commercial Officer.

Debbie Bond's responsibilities will include looking at ways to maximise the data that Lovehoney has to ensure there is a continued focus on acquiring and retaining new customers. She says: “In my history of working across retail and digital, I’ve always ensured that the customer is central to any activity we do. I see a real opportunity with Lovehoney to ensure that we are constantly looking at ways to make our customers feel like part of our family and ensuring they have the most innovative products and the best deals.”

The company has also started the search for two new leads - Retention and Digital Performance - changing the strategic focus in the structure of the existing marketing department while remaining under the leadership of Brand and Marketing Director, Helen Balmer. The global buying and merchandising teams will also expand under Product Director, Bonny Hall.

Key developments in 2018 included the opening its own warehouse in Atlanta, investment made by Telemos Capital in the summer, and celebrating its 16th birthday. Co-founder, Richard Longhurst, comments: “The growth of both Australia and America means that we’re actively recruiting for several core roles in those markets, too. As an online business, we’ve invested in our tech team to ensure that our sites continue to attract customers.”

“We have grown from two people in a room to 300-plus people, three warehouses on three continents and nine websites in 16 years. It’s been exhausting! The world changes so quickly - we’d be silly to presume we are experts in every aspect of running  a business. From Debbie to our other recruitment openings, we’re looking for the very best in talent to help us continue to grow the business over the next 16 years," he adds.
