Amazon juggernaut charging forward, eMarketer

Amazon's worldwide e-commerce revenue will grow more than 28% this year to reach $394.23 billion, according to eMarketer.

eMarketer issued the prediction ahead of the company’s second-quarter earnings report, expected today. This year, Amazon's US e-commerce revenue will grow more than 29% to hit $258.22 billion. Marketplace sales represent 68% of worldwide and US sales, with that share expected to increase. Direct sales represent 32%. In the US, Amazon will have a 49.1% share of all e-commerce spending and 4.9% of all retail spending.

According to eMarketer, 40.7 million people in the US will use an Amazon Echo this year, up over 31% over last year. This year, 66.6% of smart speaker users Stateside will use an Amazon Echo, compared with 29.5% who will opt for Google Home (there is overlap, as some people use more than one device).
