Contactless payments hit UK milestone
Contactless payments accounted for half of all UK debit card transactions in July.
It is the first time the 50% level has been reached, according to figures from banking trade body UK Finance.
In total there were 766 million contactless card transactions in July, a 17.8% increase from 650 million in the same month a year earlier. The total value of transactions was £7.2 billion, a 18% increase from £6.1 billion in the same month in 2018.
