Currys connects with McAfee and MyPlayer to launch AI focused QR gamification experience in retailer's stores
Currys has teamed up with McAfee to roll-out a new QR gamification experience in stores, helping customers put their AI spotting skills to the test.
In a LinkedIn post, Naveen Sarvananthan, CI Technology Support Manager at Currys, said: "Can you tell if it’s AI… or not? It’s a fun, fast, interactive way to show how convincing AI generated content can be and why tools like McAfee Scam Detector are more important than ever. A big shoutout to MyPlayer for helping us bring this idea to life."
"The experience is live in-store now - go scan the code (or click the link in my post), play the game, and see if you can really tell what’s real."

Quorso
Currys has teamed up with Quorso to launch a new tool called Action AI in its stores.
This brings together information like sales, footfall, promotions, surveys and customer satisfaction, into one dashboard. The aim here is to help managers and teams focus on what matters most and take the right action, in the right way, at the right time.
For example, a Sales Manager can instantly identify product categories that aren’t performing well - thanks to millions of calculations across the store network - and be guided to the root cause through real-time transaction trends. At the same time, teams can learn from top performing stores through seeing what works well right across the estate.
The platform has launched in an initial 16 stores across the UK, with full roll-out planned in September.
2025 RTIH INNOVATION AWARDS
AI will be a key focus area at the 2025 RTIH Innovation Awards.
The awards. which are now open for entries, celebrate global tech innovation in a fast moving omnichannel world.
Our 2024 hall of fame entrants were revealed during an event which took place at RIBA’s 66 Portland Place HQ in Central London on 21st November, and consisted of a drinks reception, three course meal, and awards ceremony presided over by comedian Lucy Porter.
In his welcome speech, Scott Thompson, Founder and Editor, RTIH, said: “The event is now into its sixth year and what a journey it has been. The awards started life as an online only affair during the Covid outbreak, before launching as a small scale in real life event and growing year on year to the point where we’re now selling out this fine, historic venue.”
He added: “Congratulations to all of our finalists. Many submissions did not make it through to the final stage, and getting to this point is no mean feat. Checkout-free stores, automated supply chains, immersive experiences, on-demand delivery, next generation loyalty offerings, inclusive retail, green technology. We’ve got all the cool stuff covered this evening.”
“But just importantly we’ve got lots of great examples of companies taking innovative tech and making it usable in everyday operations - resulting in more efficiency and profitability in all areas.”
Congratulations to our 2024 winners, and a big thank you to our sponsors, judging panel, the legend that is Lucy Porter, and all those who attended November's gathering.
