These retailers and brands are leading the way in providing technology and experiences that are one step ahead of their customers’ expectations.

1. Amazon

Amazon is testing out biometric payment tech that it plans to roll-out to Whole Foods stores by early next year. 

2. Albert Heijn

Dutch supermarket chain Albert Heijn has teamed with ING and AiFi to pilot a cashierless store in the city of Zaandam.

3. Atlético de Madrid

Atlético de Madrid has become the latest football club to join the Chiliz blockchain-based fan engagement mobile app, Socios.com.

It lines up alongside the likes of West Ham United, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus and is the first Spanish team on the platform.

4. Decathlon

Decathlon has worked with London-based startup imin and charity Fusion Lifestyle on the roll-out of a new platform called PLAY

5. Nordstrom

Nordstrom has opened a new store in New York that doesn’t feature any merchandise.

Situated on the Upper East Side, it instead offers services like shoe, handbag and small leather goods repair and allows customers to pick up or return items, including online orders from other retailers.
