Paul Walker tweet leaves Walmart red faced

Walmart has apologised over a tweet about Fast and Furious actor Paul Walker, who died in a car crash in 2013.

When @Iamlaurenmiles posted a story about the US retailer selling Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls with strawberry and cream flavoured icing, she added a GIF of a car speeding through traffic with the caption: "me racing".

Walmart replied: "Hey, Paul Walker. Click it, or ticket." This being Twitter, there was a furious backlash. “Dude, not cool,” wrote one person.

"Paul Walker was known for giving back and helping others. I met a wardrobe dresser when I worked on a commercial in the Captain America outfit. She literally cried talking about him,” another said.

Some, however, came to Walmart’s defence. @Riffy61 said: "It's a joke from Workaholics... read a book and lighten up, you nerds."

Walmart said in a statement: "We apologise to Paul Walker's family, friends and fans. The tweet was posted in poor judgement and has been removed."
