Paris Saint-Germain taps blockchain tech for fan engagement project

Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has launched a fan token on blockchain platform Socios, the French football team announced in a tweet this week.

As one of the first uses, it is asking fans to choose an inspirational message to go inside captain Thiago Silva’s armband when the team takes to the pitch. 

A press release notes that a fan token offering is now open on Socios.com. Socios also offered an augmented reality token hunt game for its native Chiliz $CHZ tokens which, once found, could be used to buy PSG’s fan token. 

Marc Armstrong, Chief Partnerships Officer, Paris Saint-Germain, says: “Thanks to the launch of $PSG Fan Token, our fans will now be able to drive important and symbolic decisions for the club. We are reinforcing our proximity with fans, which is one of our main values.”
