Russia racks up world’s highest Pornhub traffic spike as Premium offer goes global

Adult entertainment platform Pornhub recently extended its free Premium service offering worldwide in the face of the coronavirus outbreak and various countries being locked down.

“Stay home and help flatten the curve! Since COVID-19 continues to impact us all, Pornhub has decided to extend Free Pornhub Premium worldwide until April 23rd. So enjoy, stay home, and stay safe,” the company tweeted.

The initiative has been, erm, warmly received in Russa, with users in the country responsible for the venture’s biggest traffic spike over the past month. Research issued by Pornhub coincides with a BBC Russia report highlighting a significant increase in condom and adult sex toy purchases from online retailers.

“I can say for sure that sex shops are in the black during crises,” Alexander Denisenko, the owner of Siberia’s Potselui said. “Because, like Netflix, they provide a sense of happiness, especially in a social distancing situation.”
